Facebook for Good
The Facebook for Good Contest simultaneously ran in four different European countries and gathered hundreds of user stories for Facebook's marketing department. Wildfire's multilingual user interface enabled Facebook to run the contest in four different languages.
Facebook ran a user-generated contest to gather stories from Facebook users regarding how they've used Facebook to improve their lives or the lives of those around them. Run in four countries (UK, France, Spain and Germany) and in four different languages (English, French, Spanish and German) the contest generated many hundreds of compelling stories - from an anti-racism group in France that attracted hundreds of thousands of members via Facebook, to a small community that managed to stop their local post office from being shut down by rallying over Facebook. It also generated tens of thousands of fans for the FFG Facebook Pages. Initial entrants submitted photos, text and links to tell their story. A judging panel narrowed the entries to five finalists in each country and these finalists then submitted a video for the final phase of the contest: the public vote. In addition to viral spread via newsfeeds that were generated when stories were submitted or voted for, many submissions attracted a large volume of comments which in turn spread the word via newsfeeds. The Facebook for Good Contest was a great opportunity for Facebook to learn about unique user stories, educate the public about the positive impact of Facebook on the lives of users and their communities and to generate PR.
In addition to the Facebook for Good Contests, Facebook has used our app to run four other contests.
